Lunar Eclipse August 28th 2007

Wellington put all us lunar eclipse watchers on a weather rollercoaster Tuesday. In the morning thick cloud had it looking like a lost cause then afternoon sun and evening cloud added to the excitement. Later on that night with a strong gale Astronomers and members of the public braved the conditions and ended up with an experience to remember.

Eclipse Fever in Wellington

Despite not actually showing the moon this has to be my favorite photo of the Eclipse night.

Everyone was waiting for the glowing full moon to enter Earths shadow and waiting for the sky to clear.

I like that it shows the city, the harbor, and the mood of the night, and brings out the moonlight.
