Equinox Sunset
There Astronomers
I’m
certain Ken Ring forecast heavy
rain and overcast sky's for my planned photograph of the Equinox sunset from
my location in Karori Wellington.
Assuming the weather had been good, the view from my place isn’t quite the same as the view from Stonehenge Aotearoa. From Stonehenge in the Wairarapa (Or England) you would have seen the sun rise and set over the Heel stones directly east and west, with the Tararua range providing a backdrop to the setting sun.
Don't worry the sun set due west from my location also (along with yours) where I took the following photos of the sunset. The rain and clouds along with the Trees and other things in the way make for an interesting "Equinox Photo". You have exactly 12 hours of light and dark at the equinox along with the sun rising due east and setting due west.
If
you look carefully on the post you can see the big and bright street lights provided to
us by Wellington City ratepayers to illuminate the walkway that runs up beside
our house. The lights are bright enough that we don’t need to turn the front
porch lights on. As for all the giant over grown trees there is a gap now that
was previously overgrown with the smothering weed Old Mans Beard and dead trees
that we have removed. I guess the council needs to so some trimming as well.
I
have reduced the size of the image's to 200k and might have needed to change the
camera settings to produce a better photo, but the weather was rather gloomy
anyway.
Thanks Edwin

The Equinox Sunset on a rather cloudy and overcast day, from my front yard in Karori Wellington. There is a lot of greenery in the photo.

The view From the back year wasn't much better.
I have reduced the sizes and quality of the above photos for easy viewing online.
